Weird design decisions that we accept

In 2017, Apple released a new iPhone with what I consider the worst design decision I could ever imagine — the notch. A few years later, they implemented something slightly better (though with a weird name) — the dynamic island, which at least has beautiful animations around it. But overall, it’s still ugly.

I just don’t understand why anyone would be happy with a notch or a black hole in the middle of the screen. Wouldn’t it be better if the screen were smaller but seamless? I still don’t get it, even after seven years since the notch first appeared.

The same goes for the cameras on the back of the phone. I don’t understand why there has to be such a huge bump. Wouldn’t it be better if the phone were a bit thicker (with better battery life) and the cameras were flush with the back panel? What’s the point of making it wobble when you put it on a table?

The weirdest part is that other companies started copying this approach and are even proud of it. I just don’t get it.
