Until recently, it was quite quiet here. I had to take some time to sort out everything going on around me. So, I’m officially job hunting as a web engineer/frontend developer. Everyone says the market is tough, and that’s no joke — but I still managed to land a few interviews. I even made it to the final rounds a couple of times, but no offers yet.
That’s why I kind of disappeared — the job search is taking up a lot of time and energy. It’s hard to stay upbeat when rejections show up in your inbox every morning.
But I’m still here. And despite all this job-hunting craziness, a lot happened in October and November:
-
I found one of the best (and saddest) books I’ve ever read: Wonder Boy
-
People started migrating from Twitter to BlueSky, and I’m one of them. It’s better in so many ways — design, people, lack of bots. I’m really liking it so far! You can follow me here: @kaplich.me

The United States elected a new (well, old) president. I’m not allowed to vote yet, so I couldn’t participate in this round, but I’ll get the chance to be part of the next election. Can’t wait!
-
I turned 35. It’s kind of wild, but I still feel like the youngest version of myself.
-
I got a camera just for taking photos of kids and can’t stop making black-and-white shots.
-
My mom came to visit and help me and my gorgeous wife with our kid, which is pretty awesome.
-
I wrote about my job-hunting experience (Looking for a job is tough), posted the link on HackerNews, and went to bed. The next day, I found out it kind of went viral, and my server crashed for a while lol
-
I’ve started using Notion a lot. The AI features are super handy for analyzing my reflections and planning my next steps.
-
Bought myself new pair of AirPods Max, and now think it is one of the best gadgets of all the times!
-
Spent an evening trying to understand what DJs actually do, found a lot of insights, and even made my own set. Now I really want to play it at a party!

So yeah, that’s my life lately.
